Please pray for the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Also pray for the neighboring areas that could be affected as well. News from around the world… A massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake shook Japan and was followed by at least 19 aftershocks, most of them of more than magnitude 6.0. Dozens of cities and villages along the 1300-mile (2100-kilometer) stretch of the country’s eastern shore were shaken by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter in the sea off the northeastern coast. A tsunami warning was issued for the entire Pacific, including areas as far away as South America, the entire US West Coast, Canada, Alaska, Taiwan, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia and the Mariana Islands. Afrikaans is een officiele taal maar staat dichter bij standaart Nederlands dan veel Nederlandse dialecten zoals West-Vlaams, Gronings of Limburgs en wordt door sommige taalkundigen als Nederlands dialect beschouwd. Jammer dat we in Nederland en Vlaanderen niet meer culturele banden hebben met de Afrikaners. In NL leren we ook niks op school over Zuid-Afrika. Toen ik jong was en voor het eerst Afrikaans op tv hoorde was ik zeer verbaasd.
